About Bhrigu Lake

The charismatic Bhrigu lake which is a high-elevated lake, located at an altitude of about 4,300 meters in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, India. We can also say that it is situated to the east of Rohtang Pass which is approximately 6km away from the Gulaba village of the Kullu region. As you know this is a high-altitude lake, thus, you can reach here by trekking from the Vashishth temple which is nearby to the town of Manali.

The lake is named after Maharishi Bhrigu, a great saint of Indian history who used to meditate near the lake, and hence, the place is considered to be sacred. It is believed by the localities that the lake never freezes completely even in the chilled winter season. The reason behind why the place is called holy is because many Gods of the Kully valley went there and took a holy dip in the water, so the population of Hindus and devotees to worship the place has increased much more. The area is surrounded by a snow-capped mountain that adds more beauty to the lake. If you love to trek, then this place is a must-visit for you and once you trek around 12,000 feet, you will encounter the beautiful alpine meadows which do not fail to enchant you.

Bhrigu lake is also surrounded by a dense forest of rhododendron and has all-over greenery around it. The trek covers a distance of 26 km and an altitude of 14,000 ft but if you will take a halt, then the trek is completed successfully. Though there is no specific limitation to visiting the place from May to June, October to November is the best time to go there and experience the beauty of it. As soon as you reach there, I’m sure the crystal water and its ethereal view will compel you. If you are a person who loves to capture every moment then, you will get to see a lot of beautiful things that fill your gallery. The main beauty lies during the sunrise and the sunset because when the rays fall on the water it somehow shines and also place becomes mystical during sunset.

Being a trekker, you should begin your tour after reaching the Ramsu base camp and complete the registration process. You can also continue trekking for the Gulaba and trek for approximately 4 hours. The forest covered with long trees shows the proper landscape beauty while on the other hand, the mountain makes the view even more serene. You can also experience camping and bonfire while staying and thus, tents are provided by the respective authority or you can bring your own sleeping bags and other essentials for camping purposes. Once tents are formed, then bonfire is the very next step, you can play music, sing songs, tell stories, and enjoy in whichever way you want. Generally, trekkers visit this place most often just to add a new feather to their adventurous and thrilling journey. Bhrigu lake is particularly situated in a hiking area and you can see meadows from a thick forest which is really admirable and a sight to watch.
