About Khajjiar Lake

Khajjiar lake is located in Khajjiar that comes under the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, India. It is situated at an elevation of around 1900m above the sea level between the town of Dalhousie and Chamba. The name of the lake ‘Khajjiar’ is derived from the deity in the temple known as ‘Khajji Nag’. This lake is set in a grassy landscape and surrounded by the evergreen cedar trees that gives it a mystical look.

Khajjiar lake is considered to be a sacred place because of the Khajjinags and it has a thick forest cover around the Kalatope sanctuary. The water streams of the Himalayas act as a source for the Khajjiar lake. If you want to explore more, then you can visit the Khajinag temple which is engraved with fine wood and a gold dome.
