SIMLA SANITARIUM & HOSPITAL is situated on the foothills of the Himalayas in beautiful surroundings. It is located at a height of about 7000 feet. The hospital is one of the oldest medical institutions run by the Medical Trust of Seventh-Day Adventists having started its operation in 1914. In 1944 Dr. H C Menkel on his return to India established the sanitarium in its present location, Carton House. The building was constructed in 1950 with Dr. I R Bazliel in charge with some addition to the main structure over the years. The then Health Minister of India and also President of the World Health Organization, UN, Rajkumari Amrit Kaur inaugurated the hospital. Today the Sanitarium operates a 30-bed hospital with other facilities such as the Surgical Facility, Eye Department, Physiotherapy, Lab, Radiology, Dental, etc.
